Cause I cant please you and thats why I do what I do*

There's a quote that I'm sure most people know. It's attributed to Nelson Mandela, but he was just quoting the author, Marianne Williamson. Anyway, if you haven't heard or read it, here you go:

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. Thee's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Marianne Williamson, quoted by Nelson Mandela

I think it's pretty awesome. How amazing would it be if people inspired each other, rather than belittle, and were themselves, rather than being less than because it's easier?

Blame Tyra for this post. She was all "go 'head girl, you're amazing!" and that reminded me that, um, yes we are actually. Think about your closest friends. I know mine are most definitely up there in the people I most admire.

In less preachy news, I'm currently rocking an awesome white nail polish that does NOT look like I put whiteout on my nails. I've also been hit by this ridiculous need to wear bright, bright things on my face. Namely, electric shades of eyeshadow. This insanity stems from the one and only Erykah Badu.

This lady is unbelievably creative and ridiculously beautiful to me. And the purple eyeshadow/white nails combination I'm thinking about? Definitely being added to my existing manic curls. Not quite Ms. Badu's fro but definitely heading in that direction. Can't. Wait.

*Yes, the title is a line from "Appletree". Tu est formidable!
